Buenos Aires is known as the Paris of South America because of its many landmark mansions built around 1880-1925, all former homes to high society families who strived to outdo each other in architectural design and vast furniture and art collections, much like the Carnegies and Mellons in the United States.

We will visit a sampling of the best and two that are museums: a Spanish style private residence housing a jewel of a collection of colonial silver, rich religious art and period furniture and a French mansion, now a decorative arts museum. You will hear some little known family anecdotes whilst seeing the finest neighbourhoods of Buenos Aires.
